NC Magnets @ Frascati

Test station for normal conducting magnets (Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati, Rome)

Magnetic measurements of normal conducting magnets.

Technical means
The measurements of the field quality of normal conducting magnets can be performed using:

  • Hall effect digital teslameter with a 5-axes movement device mounted on a granite bench. Magnets up to 2mx0.8m with gap up to 0.4 m can be measured.
  • automatic rotating coil for multipole magnets (quadrupole, sextupoles, etc…) measurement with automatic magnetic centering;
  • nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) teslameter that allow measurements of magnetic field with few ppm precision;
  • other magnetic instruments such as gaussmeters, digital and analogic integrators are also available.

The laboratory is also equipped with high precision electrical instruments to perform measurements on the DC power supplies (from 10 to 1000 A with precision lower than 10-5).
