Laboratory for Superconducting Application to Accelerator Technologies
Facility Ma.Ri.S.A for the characterization of high current superconducting cables:
- Liquifier TCF20 + He recovery plant
- B=6 T- 8T Large Bore Superconducting Solenoid
- Three High Mag. Field Systems (up to 15T)
- Magnetic field up to 8 T and up to 440 mm warm bore
- Current up to 80 kA
- Temperature down to 2.0 K
Main activities in the past 25 years:
- Critical current of 30 cables for HERA sc dipoles
- Test of prototype cables for LHC dipoles and detectors
- Test of all cables used in BaBar sc solenoid
- Test of all conductors of CMS sc solenoid
- Test of prototype cables of SIS300 prototype dipole
- Test of 40 conductors of Mu2e solenoids (under way)
