Normal conducting structures for electron accelerators

Technical infrastructure for the development and tests of high power normal conducting structures for electron accelerators: the infrastructure is mainly centered in the national laboratories of the INFN in Frascati. Its activities are oriented to the electromagnetic and thermo-mechanical design and to radiofrequency (RF), mechanical and vacuum characterization of particle accelerators components such as RF cavities working in S and C band (3 and 6 GHz, respectively), diagnostics components, vacuum chambers for both linear and circular electron machines. The facility is equipped with up-to-date mechanical and vacuum instrumentation and one brazing oven. Tuning and low power RF test can be also performed in a dedicated clean room together with beam coupling impedance measurements. The realization of RF structures has been carried out in close collaboration with local companies and has been focused, in the last years, on: a) -S-band RF deflectors and kickers for the CTF3 project at CERN, SPARC_LAB linac at LNF, project FERMI@Elettra, Trieste, SwissFel at PSI and DAFNE accelerator at LNF); b) travelling wave C-band structures and standing wave S-band guns for the SPARC_LAB linac and ELI-NP projects.
