Tuning and low power RF tests can be performed in a dedicated clean room together with beam coupling impedance measurements. The tuning can be performed with a dedicated system in which a metallic or dielectric bead moves along the structure axis. This movement is synchronized with a Network Analyser (thorough a Labview interface) and the scattering parameters are measured as a function of the bead position. In this way it is possible to measure the electric (or magnetic) RF field inside the structure. By applying a tuning algorithm it is, finally, possible to calculate the deformation to be applied at each accelerating cell to reach the desired field flatness. The facility allow measuring horizontal and vertical structures.
The facility is equipped with a vacuum furnace for brazing. The available space for brazing is 800 mm (height) and 400 mm (diameter). Vacuum tests with He Leak detector and Residual Gas Analysis can be also performed in the Facility. Pressure limits and vacuum performances of vacuum components can be also measured with turbomolecular and ions pumps.
The realization of RF structures has been carried out in close collaboration with local companies.
